Russ Brown
Founder & CEO
Russ Brown, a native of Bountiful, UT, is the founder and CEO of Patriot Home Mortgage and Patriot Capital. With an accounting degree from BYU, Russ began his career at Chase Bank as a top-producing loan officer before founding Patriot Home Mortgage in 2011. Under his leadership, the company grew into a full-service mortgage bank with over 150 employees, operating in more than 30 states.
In 2013, Russ was named Chamber of Commerce “Entrepreneur of the Year” in St. George, and he has since played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s mortgage market. Russ’s hands-on experience in underwriting, secondary markets, and portfolio lending led to the creation of Patriot Capital Fund LLC. A dedicated real estate investor and entrepreneur, Russ continues to drive Patriot’s success by focusing on honesty, hard work, and market expertise.
Matt Douglas
Head of Finance & Capital Markets
Matt Douglas brings extensive experience in finance and accounting to his role at Patriot Capital. A graduate of Utah Tech University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, Matt started his career at a tax accounting firm before transitioning into corporate finance.
Since joining Patriot Home Mortgage, Matt has overseen finance and capital markets, playing a key role in the development of Patriot Capital. His adaptability to market changes and commitment to investor relations ensures the firm’s financial stability and growth. Outside of work, Matt enjoys pickleball, running, and spending time outdoors.
James McGuire
Head of Portfolio Lending
James McGuire, raised in southern Utah, developed his passion for real estate while studying at Utah State University, where he earned his B.S. in Finance and an MBA. With over six years of experience in construction lending, James joined Patriot Home Mortgage, where he now leads portfolio lending for Patriot Capital.
In 2023, James and the team funded over $33 million in production, returning over $1.1 million in interest to investors. James’s expertise spans all aspects of portfolio lending, from origination to closing, making him a trusted partner for clients and investors alike. In his free time, James enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors.
